News from the Ringwood and Fordingbridge Footpath  Society
THE WAY AHEAD

Many of you have been out on our walks enjoying the sunshine and appreciating the spring flowers, which seem to have been better than usual.  We have seen superb displays of bluebells on several of our walks.  I know a few of you have found it too hot for strenuous walking but during the last few weeks there have been short Healthy Walks for you to enjoy.  These have been led by Dave Molloy of Hampshire County Council and he hopes that leaders will emerge from these "Healthy Walkers" and a regular group will be set up in Ringwood.  When this is operational the process is likely to be repeated in Fordingbridge.  Look in the local press for further information about these initiatives and encourage others to join you on the walks.  They are likely to have a social element and should be enjoyable.

There are several events in our coming programme that those of you not wanting to go on even a 3 mile walk might like to participate in.  Following up on our winter evening talks I have arranged a visit to the Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre.  This is on the morning of 22nd June.  On the evening of 13th June there is a visit to and a short walk at Ann Sevier's farm at Blissford.

There is also the Summer Lunch with an optional

walk on 10th June.  Details of all these events can be found elsewhere in Waymark.  Do look them up if you wish to participate as in some instances places are limited and you need to book.

Now is also the time to think about next years holiday for members.  Although primarily planned for walkers, with a full walks programme there is sufficient of interest in the area to occupy those who do not want to do all the walks but who would like to enjoy the company of fellow members in convivial surroundings.

I hope to see lots of you at the summer shows.  Do look out for us if you go to those at Fordingbridge, Ellingham or Frogham and say hello to whoever is manning our stand.

We have done some footpath clearance work during the last 3 months and received thanks for so doing from Ian Lawrence the Rights of Way Officer for this part of Hampshire.

If anyone else is interested in participating in future work do let me know.

Finally please note that there is a September evening meeting this year.  If there is a good attendance this will be a regular feature in or programme.
